We are seeking auditions for the following:
Principal Violin I, Concertmaster
Bassoon II
Cello
Bass
French Horn
All other instruments & sections are strongly encouraged to audition for future per-concert and substitute consideration. We often utilize additional players throughout the season as our instrumentation needs change for specific programs. Additionally, if an emergency arises, we draw from our substitute list to bring in players mid-season. Even if you’re not sure if you will be available, filling out our online audition form is the most direct way to get on our list of players to contact should a performing need become available.
Our volunteer-based orchestra rehearses weekly, Tuesday nights, 7-9 pm in Newport News. We will be performing four exciting programs throughout our upcoming season throughout Hampton Roads. Interested musicians are asked to perform contrasting solo pieces, submit a brief professional bio, and be available for all HRP rehearsals, performances, and events.

Our orchestra is made up of a diverse array of performers from the Hampton Roads Community, including active and retired military, music teachers, students, senior citizens, and youth. Welcoming familiar and new composers alike, the orchestra actively commissions new works each season. Learn more about some of our members below!
